Sunseeker ROLLS-ROYCE Engine Deal. ROLLS-ROYCE and Sunseeker Poole have recently signed an umbrella agreement for the supply and installation of 100 MTU marine engines. The deal was sealed at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, which was extremely busy this year. The deal extends to 2023 and will see all new Sunseeker models being provisioned with MTU. MTU engines range in size, volume and power, the most popular configurations are the MTU 2000 series comprising 10 cylinder V10, 12 cylinder V12 and the top of the range 16 cylinder v16. All engines are computerised and incorporate fly by wire technology. Historically Sunseeker yachts have been fitted with the 4000 series consisting of v8 and v10 engines. The larger engines are currently achieving power outputs of up to 3200hp, this is enough power to propel a 100ft plus Sunseeker to speeds exceeding 40 knots. The new MTU engines can be mated to various propulsion susytems including rolls Royce jet drives, IPS and traditional fixed propeller systems.
Sunseeker Yacht technology. Rolls-Royce MTU have provided engines to Sunseeker for more than 20 years for Sunseeker Motor Yachts ranging from 20M to 50M overall length. Going forward there is an environmentally friendly strategy in place which will see the carbon footprint decrease, the reduction in harmful exhaust gases particularly sulphur content and the use of green energy and bio fuels.
