Sunseeker 161 Yacht. Sunseeker’s new flagship super yacht 161 is due in 2021 and will be the first all-aluminium hulled Sunseeker Yacht. The new Sunseeker yacht is being built at the ICON shipyard in Rotterdam, Holland. The Sunseeker 161 weighs in at around 350 tons at light displacement and should be capable of achieving speeds of up to 22 knots, which is impressive for a 50M vessel. The new Sunseeker 161 yacht has a hull designed by Doctor Peter van Oossanen who invented the Hull Vane concept designed to improve performance and reduce fuel consumption. In simple terms the Hull Vane is a fixed underwater foil mounted under the stern of the vessel. When underway the Hull Vane acts as a hydrofoil and creates an upward force lifting the vessel at the stern, midships and the bow to a lesser extent. The net result creates a reduced underwater form or Block Coefficient reducing underwater resistance and drag and thereby improving performance and reducing fuel burn. A similar concept has been used in the past on some of the Sunseeker Predators to lift the stern and reduce drag and overall trim.
Sunseeker luxury motor yachts. The Sunseeker 161 Yacht is a luxurious vessel carrying up to 12 guests and 6 crew in complete comfort. The aft platform can be transformed into a floating water sports centre complete with toys and jet skis. Drop down bulkheads and folding shell doors create beautiful over hanging balconies for relaxing, sunbathing and enjoying the Sunset. A personalised customisation service is available from Sunseeker and clients can create their own interiors with the assistance of the Sunseeker naval architect design team in Poole.
